Only the close association with Nintendo can save it. I guess we''ll wait and see. Better to hot hold your breath and wait for the GBA Metroid 3.

LOL. I suppose I see your point. When I heard some of the Retro developers'' work experience, I almost soiled myself. Turok? Half Life? These games are cool and all, but if Metroid ended up playin glike either of them I would be severely disappointed.

But I have confidence in them. They do have EXTEMELY close ties with Nintendo, and Nintendo seems to be very pleased with what they are doing, which was indicated by Nintendo''s outright purchase of Retro Studios a while back. The game was easily the game of E3, and everyone who played the game agrees that it plays and feel just like Metroid. From reading the impressions, and gameplay mechanics described therein, it is evident that this is not an ordinary first person shooter. Sure, it''s a shooting game in the first person, but in reality (with lock-on shooting, unlimited ammo, 3rd-person morph ball use, etc.) it plays a lot more like EverQuest than Half Life, and it doesn''t even really play like EverQuest at all. It really, seriously plays like Metroid. All that has changed is the camera angle.

So I''m excited. :D

I wish I could play it. Metroid II is one of the best games ever (Super Metroid was not as good IMHO - not sure why I didn''t like it as much).

Well, you won't be able to play it very in-depth this way, but check out this page to see if a Cube Club is coming to your town. Personally, I think the Cube Clubs are a cheesy, nerdy idea, but if it was the only way for me to play Metroid, I'd do it.
