Hi, There are tons of programs on my computer (and everyone elses) that startup when windows starts up. I would like to know how they do this. It is not in the start up folder by the way. Thanks,

Look in the registry under the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

Programs often put paths to their executables under certain keys in the registry whose contents are automatically run by Windows at startup. Specifically, look (with regedit or your favorite registry viewer) under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion for the Run, RunOnce, and RunOnceEx categories as well as HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion for the Run and RunOnce categories.

If you go to Start->Run under windows and type msconfig it will start a program where you can tweak window settings. One of the tabs is start and you can check which programs you want to have start when windows begins.

Thanks,
Just one morequestion. Other than the files that open from the places that you told me, also there are a few folders that always open on my computer.. Any idea where that is from?

i believe explorer reopens folders that were open when your computer shuts down.

Yes I am aware of that fact. These folders are never open when I turn off my computer And they always appear when I turn on my computer.
