THis has nothing to do with game programming but does any one know how to find out the provider of a website? I came across a very rude site and i want to report it to its provider but because of its Domain name i cant figure out who to report them to.
Graphics and 3D mean nothing to a real game designer. Its how the game plays that matters and nothing else!

You could run a WhoIs on the address.

If the server didn''t want it they would delete it. If you don''t like it, don''t visit the site.

THe site was racist to overwieght, Mentally ill and basically anyone who didnt look "Perfect". They are posting pictures of people and making fun of them. A site like it should have been closed by now and i intend to be the one who makes that happan.

Once again, the host will probably notice this, and if not, then there is nothing you can do. Why do you think goatse is still up.

You want to shut down sites that make fun of people? Good luck, you could spend your whole life doing that, and thats assuming they wont just relocate and that no new ones will come up.
There is a kind of freedom of speech, making fun of "non-perfect" people is probably last on the queue for shutdowns, what about all the illegal warez sites? the ones with ''sick'' pictures of death and wounds and stuff.

Sounds like you found fugly.net

Get over it. It''s not the ISPs or your job to try to censor the internet. Unless they''re located in China or Australia. Are you going to try to shut down all the web-sites that make fun of Bush and Gore and everyone else as well?

The only way you could possibly "get" them is by proving the pictures they have are copyrighted. And even then, parody is fair use. Those people put their pictures on the net, these guys found them and I think are fairly using them.

So yeah, the ISP/host is just going to ignore you.

It actually depends on the particular legislation of the country the site is hosted. Note that this does not necessarily have to correspond to it''s ccTLD, the physical location of the server is important. ISPs typically don''t give a shit about what their customers do with their webspace. Even if the content violates their TOS, most ISPs won''t do anything until someone complains. Even a racist site is a paying customer.

If the site really contains illegal material (check with the host countrie''s national laws), then you can contact the ISP. If it''s blatantly illegal (eg. child-porn), they will most likely take it offline. If not, that''s about all you can do, unless you are personally affected (eg. the site owner uses personal information, pictures, etc of you). In that case, you can sue the ISP and/or site owner.

But all this depends on the country the server is hosted. Eg. if you have a site, registered with a .com domain at NetSol (US company), but the server is located in China, then chinese law applies. NetSol won''t do anything about it (it''s not their job, they don''t provide the webspace).

How noble of you.

Seriously. There's a web site devoted to making fun of how redneck-owned trailers look. Is that "racist". Nuh uh. People make fun of how I look at school. Can I do anything about it? Not really. I can break their thumbs, and send the tiny bits of their teeth that are left home to their parents.

ever hear of banged up, or rotten.com?

EDIT: I will say, though, that fugly.net doesn't strike me as being particularily funny, and is relatively unkind, but putting your picture on internet isn't the cleverest thing to do, if you don't want that sort've thing to happen.
