Hiya, was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this Doing some GL dev again - noticed that my work was running really damn slow. Checking the driver being used i get: Microsoft Corporation GDI Generic 1.1.0 This implies it''s ignoring the hardware and going all crappy software on me. I got the latest drivers from nvidia (41.09) and that made no difference, went back to the newest WHQL drivers i could get my hands on (40.72) and that hasn''t helped either. Has anyone ever come across this problem before? I have a Geforce2 GTS if that''s any use. Thanks loads in advance, your help is greatly appreciated

I''ve got almost the same problem...

Sometimes my programms will run in hardware, sometimes they''ll
revert to software instead.

This ''error'' seems to occure most if I start up WinAmp. Not all the time though. The only ''solution'' I''ve found so far is: reboot. After reboot everything is working fine again.
How do I set my laser printer n stun? o

Hiya,

been rebooting all night, wasn''t making any difference :|

The programs I was running ran perfectly before, using hardware. They haven''t been recompiled or anything since, but they''re now reverting to software generic crap when I run them.

Even been trying to throw the opengl32.dll in the same folder as the exe, it used to work with quake3.... (to coax it into working) but no luck there

is not gonna help

does quake3 run fast?
yes then the fault lies in your code, perhaps youre not setting up the window correctly (try sdl) perhaps youre now in 16bit colordepth + are asking for dst_alpha or stencil this will give u software

Hiya,

quake3 aint running - opengl subsystem not found

Short of reinstalling drivers (already tried 5 now) is there a way to get that sorted? like a direct opengl install or whatever.

thanks loads

search the game + end user forum at www.opengl.org for ''opengl subsystem not found'' this comes up about 30x a day!

Hiya,

All sorted now, I Installed some older drivers - version 30.82 or something and these did the trick.

Now what I am guessing is this:

I read plenty sites describing how opengl apps wont run on a multi monitor setup. Now I don''t have a multi monitor setup, but when on installation of any 40.* drivers windows will try and install 2 instances of my monitor. Since I dont actually have 2 monitors, there''s no option to disable one of these imaginary monitors. So the problem persists.

Now investigating a way to force one of the monitors to piss off. thanks very much to everyone who offered some time helping - very much appreciated
