Hullo! I''m trying to remember Sam''s speech at the end of TTT, but am falling rather short. Does anyone here have an amazing memory and would be kind enough to type it up for me? I would be much appreciative. Thanks.

I don't have an amazing memory, so I looked in the book and flipping past the last few pages I couldn't see any speech by Sam. If you could tell me what it is about, or a relatively exact position in the book, then I would be happy to type it out for you.

It pertained to not wanting to know the end of such unpleasant stories and why we all do it anyway. I believe the last line went along the lines of "there is something good in this world, and it''s worth fighting for."
It's not what you're taught, it's what you learn.

Remember that the movie is not exactly the same as the book.

However, it was very true to the book compared to the first one. I loved Sam''s speech! I liked how when he was talking, it was showing all the things happening, like the flooding of Isengard, and the appearance of Gandalf and Eomer.

Ah, yes, I guess it is at the end of the movie (haven''t seen it myself) but it''s far from the end in terms of the book. Here you go, I think this is what you meant:

They were full of darkness and danger and you didn’t want to know the end," explains Sam. "But in the end you realize that it’s a passing thing and a new day will come. Those are the stories that stayed with you and meant something. The folks in those stories kept going. They held onto something."

"What are we hanging onto?" asks Frodo.

"That there is some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for," responds Sam.

I got this from a website, so I''m not sure as to its accuracy ... I couldn''t find the speech in the actual book.

It seemed to me that the first movie made changes to shorten the story, and this movie made changes to lengthen the story. Quite odd. I suppose Jackson didn''t want this movie to end on a down note the way the book does.

Lengthen? It covers almost only the first half of the book (tho this is the most interesting part)!

Aragorn''s fall from the cliff to surprise everyone was a bit cheap, IMHO.

.. not only that... somehow I missed that little something, despite the overkill on CGI (that big-eyed hobgoblin makes me wanna give up 3d modelling). Bad Jackson, DOWN!

I think he ended it on a good note with Sam''s speech because the second always has to be the dark one. It was probably put in there to show that good will come in the third movie.

Yes, that is almost exactly the quote I was looking for. I should have been more clear, I ment from the movie.

Thanks.
