Visual Studio.NET bug?

I''ve been using Visual Studio.NET for a semester at college with no problems, but recently, the start window quit displaying my recent projects, then a few days ago, I tried to create an application and I got the error "Automation Server can''t create object" when the windows form was being created in a VB application. The solution and project are intact (including namespace references) except for that. I then tried a C++ app and got the same error when it tried to create the cpp file. Does anyone know what''s wrong? I got the program through the university license and M$ won''t support it without charging me from $50-700 to fix it. I already tried a reinstall, repair, and component update, but it still gives me that error. Please help as I have a C++ class next semester and a programming job starting in two weeks!!!!!

Check the Event Viewer in Windows, maybe the error message ended up there with a GUID to aid in tracking down what object it''s failing to create.

Change that to uninstall, manually delete directories that remain, manually go through the registry and remove all references to VS.NET(after backing up, of course), and reinstall. The VS.NET uninstaller doesn''t clean up properly after itself - there''s tons of crud lying about.

I had a similar problem once - this approach fixed it.

I''ve looked at the source, and there are pieces that are good and pieces that are not ... My experience and some of my friends'' experience is that Linux is quite unreliable. Microsoft is really unreliable but Linux is worse. -- Ken Thompson
