pVB->Lock( 0, 0, (BYTE**)&pVertices, 0 ); no problem in dx8.1 but after installed dx9.0 compile error message What does this mean? ''Lock'' : cannot convert parameter 3 from ''unsigned char ** '' to ''void ** '' Types pointed to are unrelated; conversion requires reinterpret_cast, C-style cast or function-style cast

so then change (BYTE**) to (void**) and problem solved!

oh and it means that the parameter is supposed to be of type void** but you are pasing in a BYTE** wich is a char**. So instead of casting your vertices to char** cast it to a void**. Everything is in the compiler error message. And also use the dx9 sdk docs and check out the whats new secition. The Lock function changes and all the other functions the were changed are discussed over there
