Hi, I need a newer OS and XP is a bit much for my PC so Win2K seems best. The cheapest I can find 2nd hand is ~£70-80, but I''ve heard you can get student editions like with other MS stuff. Does anyone know how you''d go about this in the UK, what sites and how much etc? Oh, and does Win2K support DX8 & 9?
Read about my game, project #1 NEW (18th December)2 new screenshots, one from the engine and one from the level editor

You must be student to get to use those license. And all windows version above 95/NT4 support DirectX(NT4 SP6 has DX7.1 and can''t have an upgraded DX version).

I am a student, where do I get the license and how does it work - I heard it was odd like you buy the license then send it away again to get the software?

Sometimes the school itself carries the software, which in that case, it makes it reaal easy.

"Buying the license" is all you ever do when purchasing software But yeah, you get the box in a shop, it''ll have the EULAs and a form in it that you send off to Microsoft (or fill out online or something), and they''ll send you back the discs. Should be plenty of retailers in the UK selling the stuff. I don''t know if you can get Windows 2000 anymore that way though.
