Is it easy to decompile .NET dll''s?

Pretty easy, yes. If you have a lot of IP invested into an assembly, you should probably look into using an obfuscator.

Try to google for "Anakrino" and you''ll find some interesting things.

I personally use a decompiler to learn how the framework functions internally (since most of the .NET framework is written in C# and not obfusticated). It has been a lifesaver a few times...once you know the innards of the classes you can then use reflection to change private members...which is (unfortunately) the only way to do certain things.

Obviously this is a power-user mentality and is not recommended for those just starting out. But it is cool to be able to see the .NET implementation of an XSLT transformer, RegEx parser, and how ASP.NET functions under the hood...all in readable C# code.
