The only person I can think of is Jane Jensen. She designed the Gabriel Knight games and a few others (some of the Kings Quest games i think).

Do they have to be living? Ada (or something like that) is credited with creating computer science (I think).

Yeah! Ada Byron, Lady Lovelace

EDIT: How ironic. A huge pioneer in computer science was a woman, yet there's NO girls in my CS classes. Something has gone horribly wrong!

Yes. And the number of females who post here is larger than you might think.

Why isn''t there a national Caucasian Month? Or a Man Month? I feel so left out...

Yes, I''m a female programmer, but I do military contract work, not games (I''ve done a couple shareware games, a couple of lectures at the XGDC, and a chapter for Game Programming Tricks of the Trade, and just got done tech editing Mason''s Game Audio book, but I''ve never done professional game development).

So, if you get desperate and decide that programming games for a living isn''t necessary, you just need a female programmer, feel free to e-mail me and I''ll help with whatever I can.

Women can't code, in the same way women can't drive. See the logic?

I quote what I said drunk once: "Men and their cars are ONE. Women and their cars are... like.... eh... 126"

Ofcouse I'm just kidding around. No hurt feelings?
