How do you disable the assertion debug dialog that pops up when a program makes an assertion error?? (I have win XP and VS.NET)

Generally, assertions aren''t compiled in when you do release builds.

Under what circumstances would you want to disable this, tho?

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Well I'm trying to play morrowind and evertime the begining movie starts I get a "ASSERT failed" dialog asking if I want to debug. Well anyways this is locking up morrowind and keeping me from playing. Just wanted to kow how to disable windows from asking me to debug programs

If it says assert failed it''s not Windows, it''s the app itself.

No, that''s a DirectShow assertion failure. It''s because you have the Debug runtime of DirectX installed.

Install the retail version and the dialogs should disappear.
