It's just a name used in programs to show examples in code. I think it stands for something. It's short for foobar I think.

Darn... I keep forgetting... you guys don''t have the psychic capacities to grok the word Foo...

As for me, I figured it was just some gibberish used in examples as a metasyntactic variables--as it has appeared in lots of books in that context.

I always knew the term FUBAR.. I just thought foobar was the polite way to write it on the blackboard. Plus, it has a nice even amount of letters so when you practice your sorts in Data Structures class, it works out nice.

I think Webcrawler was out by 1995.
