Is there any sort of 3d modeling software that is kind of like a storyboard program for movies? I need something that can show camera movement and describe the scenes that I need. Real 3d modeling software is much harder to use for this task than it should be. Any suggestions? ------------------------------------------------- "Where''s ma pus..." - Link (The Matrix: Reloaded)

May I suggest fake modelling software? I''ve heard it''s really good at rendering just about anything. You can find it www.weletyoudownloadfakemodelingsoftware.com.

If Pixar can make feature length films using "real" 3D modelling software, you can too. I believe in you, nes8bit.

oh come on

Seriously. I know there''s like Microsoft Movie Maker. I just need something so that I can diagram what scenes need to do what to the actors.

It all depends on where your camera is. If you're making models in 3dsmax, and the camera you're using to look at the model(s) is in combustion, then yes, you can have a storyboard.

But combustion v2 (which I own, thanks to the my school's software purchasing program) is lots of money. Adobe premiere is also capable of doing storyboard things.

I'm not sure thats what you want though.

I'm fairly certain, that unless you have lots of money, there are no programs that can fit your glove so to speak. If you could explain in better detail exactly what you want to do, I'm might be able to shoot you in the right direction.

At the very least you could visit the people at CGtalk.com, and ask someone there.

nes8bit , as it seems you're getting into movies. I've done that too. Let me tell you what I've come up with so far.

First of all, get Sonicfoundry Vegas 4.0, best video editting program you'll find. Beats Adobe, Ulead, Pinnacle and (muahahahahaha ) Microsoft... Really the best! I was so impressed by it and have spent hours and hours using it.

I also need that program that you're talking about. I have many "scenes" built up in my head, but I neither am I sure how to get them made. I bought a Panasonic DS60 camcorder not long ago, but it's not easy getting smooth cool motion with it. If you have 3000 - 4000€ to spend you'll get your equipment.

Best would be to have some kind of huge robotic arm you could program to move as you want it to

Anyway, I found Toonboom Studio pretty good and have been able to achive kinda cool scenes with it. But ofcourse, it's not full 3D. Just cartoon 3D, meaning, 3D but only with sprites. But it's very easy to use (takes ½ - 1 hour to learn). Also recommended. I should upload some clips of movies/scenes I've done.
