Former Iraqi Exiles are now striking back at the USA: Article
quote:
Already, the former opposition groups (now relocated to Baghdad) who were set to convene the conference are voicing their anger. "They told us, ''Liberation now,'' and then they made it occupation," I was told by Ahmad Chalabi, head of the Iraqi National Congress. "Bush said he was a liberator, not an occupier, and we supported the United States on this basis."
Ouch indeed. In other news, democratic governmental elections have been put off "indefinitely" due to the new "threat" in Iraq. Lovely.

Us anti-war hippies also said the WMD would likely be nill or insignificant enough to justify a war. I myself am amazed they have found nothing. I figured they would find something yet it would be insignificant.

Us anti-war hippies also said the Iraq war would lead to massive waves of terrorism against the USA.

Lets all hope we are wrong on the latter.

Me too. In light of everything from the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine to the Gulf of Tonkin "attack" I rather expected that "weapons of mass destruction" would be found -- whether they were there or not. At least the U.S. government hasn''t sunk that low ... yet.

I hope I''m wrong about that too. Naturally those most likely to be devastated by terrorist actions are not the government officials responsible for our atrocious foreign policy, but ordinary citizens.

When those attacks do come, ordinary U.S. citizens will be presented the idea that the attacks are the insane actions of religious fanatics who hate us because we love freedom. Any suggestion that those attacks are in any way related to U.S. foreign policy will be ridiculed.

Sadly, many (if not the vast majority of) U.S. citizens will believe what they are told to believe. Once again our youth will be sent to kill brown people or die. Don''t expect the casualty list to include the sons and daughters of high-ranking government officials.

Unlike Iraqis, the people of the United States seem determined to remain in chains.
