I was looking around the site and decided to pop into the IRC channel to say hello. Now a question, is the #gamedev channel created by the first person logging in the morning? Or is it generally hosted by a certain set of people affiliated with gamedev.net? Just curious as I can''t find it on #AfterNET and was just wondering if it''s because you all are all still asleep or if noone uses it much or some other reason like I don''t know what the heck I''m doing with mIRC as I just downloaded it Thanks, Webby

I don''t know if I''m understanding your question correctly, but #gamedev on Afternet is this site''s official IRC channel. It is registered with Afternet, so that the bot X2 is always in there and it therefore won''t be deleted, even if everyone leaves the channel (which never happens).

OK. That''s what I was wondering. I was probably looking in the wrong place. First time with IRC. I''m sure I''ll find it

Thanks

#gamedev is a private channel, so it''s not listed in Afternet''s channel list.

As for intelligible conversation, I enjoy #gamedev every now and then, because I have a lot of friends in there (one of the side-effects for frequenting the channel for 3-4 years), but I really like Flipcode''s channel for "advanced" programming conversation. I''m in both channels (they are on different networks) 24/7, active in both under the handle ''trent''.

Beware however, IRC is a serious distraction.
