Anyone out there familier with knoppix? I''m having a little problem-- I''m trying to boot it off of a CD. When It gives me the "boot:" thing, I just press enter and it seems to boot fine. It then tells me someting like "kernel panic- init not found. try passing the init= option to the kernel" So, I tried this when I rebooted the machine; Boot: vmlinuz init=/etc/init Kernel panic error... etc... Then, I do: Boot: knoppix init=etc/init kernel panic wtf.. screw this... How sould I boot knoppix? thanks

Ok, so I think I got past that error, but then it asks me what runlevel to go into.. I type 1 (because I don''t know wtf else to put there) and it gives me a segmentation error :-\

If you get to a run level you want to enter either 3 or 5. Entering 3 will get you to a command line, entering 5 will bring up the gui.

Tried 5, got a segmentation violation error. I'll try 3
EDIT: same error when I try 3

5 is what you want, go to justlinux.com (too lazy to make a clicky ._.) and go to the forums and well, post your problem. Lots of people would be glad to help you, and they know what they''re doing.

hehe I found the problem. A stick of ram died on me so I only had 15 megs of ram left! I jacked a new stick from my dads computer, stuck it in mine, and knoppix booted just fine
