Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody.

Oh, you meant "Classical", not "Classic." Well, it still counts.

John Cage: 4'33

Edit: By Classical, do you mean "popularily classified as classical music, i.e. music employing traditional instrumentations and forms" (including Bach, Chopin, Ravel, and the like) or do you mean "music from the classical period"? (limited to composers such as Mozart)

Boy, it sure didn''t take long for this thread to attract the crap. I think Billy Joel''s classical-type compositions are very good.

define your question, classical (Beethoven... etc), or classic (Elton, Nat King Cole [two different periods I know])

He said classical. If he meant classic he would have said classic. Personally, I like "Ride Of The Valkeries". You know - that thing from "Apocolypse Now".

Dvorak's 9th Symphony (Especially the last, "Con Fuoco" movement)
Stravinsky's Firebird Suite (Awesome... I performed in this at college)
Meij's Lord of the Rings Symphony (not a soundtrack... written in the '80s I believe), especially Gandalf

I almost want to say I love you, but I really don''t... I personally prefer Innuendo to BR, but BR is the ultimate singa-along song for parties and get-together''s with old friends. Everyone should at least learn the lyrics. Another one''s Killer Queen.

Actual classical pieces:

Bach - Fuga e Toccata
Richard Strauss - Also Spracht Zarathustra
Schumann - Wanderer Fantasie
Chopin - a couple of preludes
Ravel - Ondine, Trio for the Piano, Cello and Violin, La Valse
Debussy - Clair de Lune, Sirenes
Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue
Beethoven - Pianco Concerto nr 5 ("Emperor")
Mozart - Piano Concerto nr 21 ("Elvira")
Tommy Smith - Edinburgh (honest to God, the best mixture of classical music and modern jazz I''ve ever heard)
Carl Orff - Carmina Burana

etc.

I have some strange ones...

Beethoven''s 6th(yay!)
J.S.Bach Sonana No. 3 in C major - Fuga (there''s more then one, mine''s BWV1005. An amazing piece, since it''s one violin, but it sounds like multiple)
J.S. Bach - Preluge and Fugue in C Minor, from the Well Tempered Clavier Book I. This is one of the bests.
Choplin - Etude in G flat Major Op. 10 No.5 C
J.S. Bach - Concerto in D Minor BWV 1052''(this was written for violin, and then put onto Harpsichord)
Bartok & Debussy has too many great ones to mention.

As you can tell, My favorites are Baroque, Romatic, and early Conteporary. I''m a beginning pianist...

FATALITY!!

I like Rimsky Korsakov''s Scheherazade. I''d really like to listen to more classic music, it''s a great genre.

Edit: By Classical, do you mean "popularily classified as classical music, i.e. music employing traditional instrumentations and forms" or do you mean "music from the classical period"?

The music community as a whole needs to come up with a better name then ''classical'' for the first definition

So far, I''ve heard three: Serous, Art, & Classical.

Each one has a fatal flaw, Not all classical music is serous, not all of it was written for ''art'', and there is already a period that is classical. Plus the whole paradox, what do you call newly written pieces, ''new classical'' pieces. (The radio calls them Contemporary pieces written the the classical style).

I usually use Serous music, because I like the elitist tone.
Oh yeah, I should shill, Beethoven.com. Its a great free internet classical radio station. My only beef, is they play harry potter a bit too much...
