Ok, i am working on a 2d side scrolling arcade game. I wanted to make 2d in 3d because all my units are 3d models and, in 2d i am limited to sprites. Anyways i started off with perspective projection, but the units look different at different positions of the screen, i mean the units look kinda rotated (along the x-axis) when they are on the top or bottom of the screen. i also have a simple 3d terrain as a backdrop. And my particle system (PS) works on perspective projection. Orthogonal projection is what i want for my units, but my PS and terrain wont work in that mode. So what do i do ?? i can many be change PS to work on Ortho, but i am not sure about the terrain. So how do i go about solving this issue. Switch everything to ortho? or switch everything to perspective and manipulate the units so that they look the same no matter where they are on the screen.. any valuble help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

There are many options. You are free to change the perspective transform mid frame to render some parts one way and some parts another.

Personally I''d stick with one system that looks best... probably using perspective. If the units look wierd then at least they still look ''realistic''. Play with the distance-to-screen part of the perspective formula together with the camera range to reduce the ''fish eye'' effect... or make your units more solid so they look cool from the side
