Getting started in Flash.

I think you'll have to shell out around $100-300 for Macromedia Flash (5.0/6.0)... I'll check it out for you..

EDIT: There's this Macromedia Flash MX program for a mere $435 from Amazon.

Are there any free versions? I don''t need some developing tool that''s fancy and has all the bells and whistles, I just need something functional.

I don''t know if these are what you''re looking for, but...they''re all that I could find in a short amount of time: one, two, and three.

You can get a trial version of Flash MX 2004 at the Macromedia website. You will need to register, I think it''s free, and the file size is pretty large if I remember when I tried it.

ok, you can download the 30 day trial off macromedia.com

Macromedia produced the only development software for flash (they invented it). As far as learning resorces go, you can always buy a book. If you want a website though www.kirupa.com is the best. They have tons of tutorials on beginning stuff and special effects. Plus an awsome message board. The largest flash resorce site is www.flashkit.com but the only people on there are jerks and you won''t find them very helpful. They are however the best place I know of to find sound effects/loops.
