Does D3DX work good?

I read a post that the D3DXLookAt function was flawed, I was wondering if anyone else thinks this, and/or if any of the other functions do not work as expected? Also, does d3dx use optimized code on those matrix ops? i.e. 3DNow or MMX? -Magmai Kai Holmlor I am brazen and fear no flames. (So long as I don't lose this Ring of Fire Protection +5)

The D3DXMatrixLookAt() and D3DXMatrixLookAtLH() is flawed. When using these the top row in the matrix have the wrong sign. I haven''t notice any other functions that have bugs though.

At present time I don''t think the library optimizes for 3DNow, MMX, and/or KNI, but in the next iteration of DX the library just might do so.

It could just be my code, but it seems to me that D3DX''s initialization functions are extremely buggy. I know that using D3DX, my app had trouble on a ton of systems, whereas with just straight D3DIM code, it worked fine.

It hasn''t caused much trouble for me, but if I was programming a major game, I''d use pure D3DIM to initialize.

As for the D3DXMatrixLookAt() functions, I noticed they were acting a little funny too. (And what''s the idea of making right-handed operations the standard? Stupid MS...)

Probably someone in-house who spends all their spare time using OpenGL =) It wouldn''t surprise me hehe.
