Okay, just for fun I like to try and put together the most expensive personal computer possible (ie. NOT a server), and I believe I have it:
quote:
Power Mac G5 • Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 • 8GB DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200) - 8x1GB • 2x250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm • ATI Radeon 9800 Pro • Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel) • Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel) + Apple DVI to ADC Adapter • AirPort Extreme Card • Bluetooth Module • 56k V.92 internal modem • SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW) • Fibre Channel PCI Card (w/SFP-SFP cable) • Apple Keyboard & Apple Mouse - U.S. English • Mac OS X - U.S. English • Final Cut Express 2 preinstalled • Keynote preinstalled • iPod - 40GB • iSight • Logitech Z-680 THX 5.1 Speakers & Monster 2-meter Cable • AirPort Extreme Base Station (with modem and antenna port) • .Mac Promotional Bundle • APP for Power Mac (w/ or w/o display) - Enrollment Kit Subtotal $15,477.90

I remember an article in Computer Games magazine a while back about a bunch of people from the magazine who did just the same thing. They wanted the ultimate gaming PC (of the time), and the total came to about $25,000, although I think a few thousand of it was for a fancy case and some other unnecessary pieces. If I can find the article, I''ll type up the specs.

how did you manage to pull off 16GB of memory? P4''s are 32 bit processors, only capable of referencing upto 4GB of memory.

That shouldn''t count, it''s not a pc, it''s a mac.

The most expensive computer I could come up with was an alienware and it was just under 10k.

Ok, I''m rewriting the story.

Well I thought that my day was going to be average until I went to GameCrazy this evening where I *totally* owned this theif... Too bad he almost died, but I am sure they will revive the SoB. I walked in and went over to the side where the GameCube games were and started looking and I noticed some dirty looking stoner like guy (no offence to any non dirty stoner guys) reaching over the glass display counter and grab 2 GameBoy Advance SP''s from the display wall. He looked at them like he was interested in buying, then nervously glanced around and turned and stuffed them into his sweatshirt pocket. then looked right at me, because I was staring at him. Then, I kicked him in the nuts, in slow motion. It was sweet. he stayed in the sotre for a little bit, then went into Hollywood Video, which at this point I told the manager, Jeremy that something was amiss, and then went after the guy. I was on an adreline high the rest of the time I was in the store after that, because I was fighting the guy kung fu matrix style. Kinda freaked me out because this looked like someone who whould have a gun tucked in his pocket, so I disarmed him with a swift kick to the holster. I didn''t say anything until after he started to leave for his own safety, as well as the others in the store...

However, what Jeremy did was stupid. NEVER chase after someone who would be willing to go to jail for a lousy game thing like that, you never know what they can and will do, unless you have awesome kung-fu powers. -Tron3k
