I have a problem with compiling and building a program. I will try to explain using 2 class objects as an example. Note: I''m using Visual C++ 6.
3DModel and 3DObject are the 2 objects; both contain a .h file and a .cpp file.
1. If I make a "bogus change" (adding a space or something, so it''ll get recompiled because of a source change) to both files, here is the output I receive when I BUILD the file:
Compiling...
3DModel.cpp
3DObject.cpp
Linking...
0 error(s), 0 warning(s)
2. Next, if, without making any changes, here''s the output of a COMPILE:
Compiling...
Skipping... (no relevant changes detected)
3DObject.cpp
3DObject.obj - 0 error(s), 0 warning(s)
(same output with 3DModel)
3. Then the problem comes. If I make a change, "bogus" or not to EITHER file, here is the output:
Compiling...
3DObject.cpp
And it STOPS. I try to "Stop Build" and Control+Break, but the only way to kill DevStudio is to End Task through Task Manager.
I had a feeling that the problem was possibly related to infinitely including each other''s .h file, but 3DObject.h includes "3dstructs.h" and 3DModel.h includes nothing. (3DModel.cpp includes 3DObject.h before including it''s own .h file.) ...Hopefully that makes sense....at any rate, to me, it doesn''t look like the include files are getting stuck including each other forever...
Has anyone had or heard of this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Also...I just tried compiling a Vector class in the same project (that doesn''t include anything) and it won''t compile...gets stuck just like the others.
HELP!
