today i was reading up on OpenGL, and I realised that i was''nt even reading it, i was scanning the book for important parts, then when i got to something i did''nt understand i read backward.

I don''t really read, as much as glance at characters with my eyes, and then writhe in pain as my brain attempts to understand what the eyes saw.

I sleep on the book, and absorb the knowledge contained within. But actually, I was born with complete knowledge of OpenGL, up to version 4.0.

Wow. So you''ll know OpenGL for about 200 years.

I like pie.

depending on what i''m reading i either high speed scan a page the pages until i''ve had enuff and let my brain sort it out which leads to me still reading a story after i''ve finished reading it, or i slow the process down a bit and understand each section as i go, still mostly quick scanning.
It like with a convastion, you can ignore most of the words anyways, as long as you pick out the key words/phrases :D

which, btw, if you hadnt worked out is how to (a) hold more than one convo at a time and (b) how men deal with talking to women, brain does something else while scanning the sentance for phrases requiring the correct responce

If I''m reading a referrence-type book or school book, I usually skim then work backwards; much like Cibressus. However, if I''m reading a particularly good novel or fiction book, I tend to read very slowly and take as much time as possible, so that I enjoy every minute of the book. Eh, whatever.

I had a feeling someone would post that.

For some of my non-CS classes, I try to read ever word because they usually end up on stupid exams. CS books, on the other hand, I skim through. A lot of them are more like reference books, so reading them completely isn''t very useful.

^I didn''t have any problem with it either. Reading backwards isn''t hard for me either, but then I spend a LOT of time reading the newspaper upside down (because my gf has a much tougher time reading upside down, our mornings are too short, we don''t want to buy two papers, and we read the same sections. Ok, while all those reasons are true, the real reason is I just want to be weird.)

I used to screw around on IRC so much with backwards sentences that I can pretty much read them just fine now. Useless but sweet skill. ;D

But seriously. How do I read? I don''t. I place my hand on the pages and let my cells absorb the ink. A self-evolved perceptron in part of my brain then applies simple pattern recognition and understands the meaning of the words by itself. Sure gets a lot of weird looks in the library though.

That also came to mind when I saw his name.
