at 13 you are doing well. I consider it a great age to learn. I learned BASIC when I was 11 and did it for a few years. (I am 21 now). BASIC taught me some (a very small amount) of the features of programming, at least I learned what an interpreter was :D I now code in C++, Java and Haskell all of which I have been doing for at least two years. I thoroughly wish I had started to learn earlier.

The language you want to learn depends highly upon what it is you want to do. Given that you are on a game development forums, I assume the answer to that question will be gamedev. In which case I would suggest learning C++ or Java. (Though most will say C++).

I started when I was 16 I think it''s cool that you want to start as early as 13 but you certainly don''t need to feel rushed. My first language was Visual Basic. It was a fun language to start on because you can program simple games on it with realitive ease. My first game was a modified version of Pong I made within 2 months of starting VB. The down side is that it isn''t used much in the industry. Another good starting language is C because everyone in the actual industry uses it. In C however, it takes much longer to get to the point where you can work with graphics. This makes it less fun as a starting language. Personaly, I recomend VB.

I learned C++ at age 14, if I''m not mistaken. I''m 16 at the moment, 17 in June.

At 8. Started with BASIC, went on to 6806 asm, then 68000 asm (motorola..) then on to C, got my first compiler/linker from "Fred Fish", someone who sold Free/Shareware on 3.5" discs. Think I paid about $8 for it (hard to remember the exchange rate for SEK-$ back in the late 80'ies, but I think it was around 8 dollars)

Then, I got my first C++ compiler (well, actually CFront wasn't a compiler...). Started hacking Pascal for a while, and then AMOS (if anyone remember that) And there I am..

humm.. let se.. 30 - 8.. 22 years.. and still nothing good gets done. Better start thinking of another hobby, like fishing maybe..

Started at 10 with Turbo Pascal. But i really started to programm only at 13. (Becouse at 10 i didn''t know what most of my code do, and i couldn''t figure out how if-else works ) Now im 14, doing a top-down shooter with SDL and asking a lot of stupid questions here, in gamedev.net forums
