Doom from Above?

Yes, I know, another end-of-earth thread... I dont want this to go down the religous path, I''m just curious and yes, a bit worried, about some of the stuff that is currently happening. Last week, here in Portugal, we had a huge sighting of a UFO, which was tracked on radar. This was obviously some asteroid, a bit bigger than a basket ball. This type of event is extremely rare here, maybe because of our longitude/latitude, but in itself is pretty meaningless, except when counpounded with other things happening arround, that im told through the internet... which I wouldnt have taken a second look at, if it werent for the asteroid event... It seems to be hapening in other places arround the world too: Link Also, regarding the Navy, all across the world it seems to be undergoing exercises.... even celebrations and other events have been canceled for "inter-national cooperative military exercises"... London is designing mass evacuation systems Switzerland upgrades its threat level to "Stufe 2" since the beginning of April 2004. Even during the Cold War, most memorably the Cuban Crisis, the levels raised were hardly ever above Stufe 3. There are also strange rumours going arround from Weather Data Collecting Agencies...

Ya... well, i dont know. I think it may all be a hoax, on the other hand, some of this stuff really itches my curiosity...

THAT...or this might have to do with the whole terrorist thing...considering the US and Brits (including some others) are pissing off the Arab world.

But if something from space comes...we always got Bruce Willis.

I thought this was going to be about an isometric version of Doom.

Well, on the other thread about the end of the world, someone posted a link to some sites where an australian guy (he said he was/is an astronomer) was talking about huge meteorites (and a comet/white dwarf core) hitting the earth this month (somehwere betwee 22-27 June). He said that signs of this will be some metoeites, and then their frequency/size will get bigger and bigger.

On the timebomb 2000 boards, i saw a reference to an "AQ" picture called "jakel" in which theres a picture of NY blowing up or something, and all this crap, anyways, has anyone got an idea what/who AQ is? (i tried googleing, but my attention span prevented me from going beyond the first page)

I thought the same thing, it made me think how cool it was to play doom while looking at the map (that's the same as playing top down, since you could still walk and shoot while viewing the map)

Wow, that was the most obvious connection, and i completely overlooked it...

got an instant hit with "al qaeda jakel" on google images, though the site was down... it, however, didnt fufill all of what was said of it (there was something about venus being in front of the sun (thatd be june 8th, venus crosses the sun, cant be seen in US) and somethin else, meh though...
