open up your mouse and clean it...
if it still doesn''t work, get a new mouse
for the meantime... use as many keyboard shortcuts as u can

I''m not sure that cleaning the mouse is going to fix this. When the mouse gets dirty, it causes a lot of difficulty in moving the mouse around, but the problem he''s describing sounds more like his computer is constantly working and updates the mouse less frequently than it should. Know what I mean? Of course, I can''t think of what would cause this.

komi: If you *are* looking at these replies, is the problem something that happens consistently, or is it only happening this one time your computer has been on? Have you noticed decreases in speed in things other than your mouse? If not, maybe it is really just dirty. You wouldn''t believe how much crap gets inside those things, hehe.

A mouse I used to use had a switch on the bottom of it and when u didnt select the right option it did stuff like that. Doubt that''s the cause of your problem.

Also I once installed softice and that interfered with my mouse. Get a new mouse. They''re only cheap and will solve the problem.

I reckon its a problem with the drivers. If you can be bothered reinstall windows then if it works you know some software you had was causing the problem.

Still, buying a new one is probably easier.

I had a mouse that did something like that. When it wasn''t moving it would suddenly start moving in a straight line, up, down, left or right. I took it back to the store and the woman told me it was because it was dirty (it was 2 days old). She cleaned it out and told me that it would work now. It didn''t so I just ended up buying a new one and never went back to that store again.

Long story short:buy a new mouse (they''re pretty cheap)

I took all of your advice, and yeah.. it was the mouse. Got a new one, and it works fine. Thanks everyone for the help.
