I recently read in another forum that visual C++ is somehow different then regualr c++. they set that in visual c the compiler actually uses a subset of c. my question to you though, is if I am able to learn on it. I am currently trying to learn c, and I dont want to get lost. I have tried to do online tutorials for c using vc++ before but there are always errors. is this because of the fact that it uses a subset of c?could you suggest a good windows compiler for begginers

Visual C++ 6.0 had some issues with not being entirely ISO standards compliant. However, VS 7.0 and later (also know as Visual Studio .NET) have made great strides. Other options would be something like dev-C++ w/ MingW, but in all likelyhood a newer Visual studio (post 6.0) is just fine.
