Hi, i have a game engine and need to put some physics into it. The graphics part is already done, with OpenGL. Now im looking for some free (for commercial games too) physics engine. I already use ODE, an old version of course, and tokamak physics. What you guys think about ODE? i like it cause it is open source, and tokamak isnt. I ready something about Newton too..but never use it. Some guys said that ODE is SLOW, and im afraid to have a hard work understanding it, and putting it into my engine, and them figure out that it is too slow. Comments plz.. Questions about ODE: is it possible so use it in large games? Does it have some feature that include terrain collision? Is it Trimesh Collide?

i think that using ODE lowers the rating

ODE's very well documented - you shouldn't have any trouble incorporating it into your game. It used to be quite slow comopared to Tokamak, but now the two are pretty close. Tokamak does some things better, ODE does other things better.

The biggest pitfall that people fall into with ODE is "sponginess" and explosions. Both can be solved by tuning some values.

It's also been used in a couple of commercial games.

Oh, and by the way you can search the ODE mailing list by using google - just append "site:q12.org" to the search query.
