WTF is wrong with people?

I'm surprised that noone would intervene, and that people are allowed to interfere with the competitors like that.

They didn't just do that to Lance, you know. Put 500.000 people along a small stretch of road, mix in a lot of alcohol, and you get this kind of thing.

European news covers this a bit more, and I saw a TV interview with one of the australian guys (McEwen - who happens to speak dutch extremely well) that he encountered the same thing. So-called "fans" of other bikers were insulting everyone they saw as a threat to "their" guy.

That's just pathetic. Most of them were Germans(On a side note). In the article one of the runnings said that the last kilometre the course was fenched, and when they reached that part, he said "I am glad we survived".

WTF? Those people should be shot on the spot goddammit!

Interesting logic. These people swore etc at this guy, lets massacre them. Yet chances are you wouldn't agree if Iraq massacred Americans because all America did was kill hundreds of innocent people.
Yes they were out of line, but he (the rider) has to expect these things to happen. He can't expect everyone to like him.

nope, but because his favourite doctor is a guy who is in the centre of the largest doping scandal in cycling and whenever Armstrong is asked about that guy he says, he is the best doctor he ever had.

apart from that, one of Armstrong's former employees swears that he gave her syringes to throw away and wanted makeup to cover up the stitches on his arm (but: since this woman was fired by Armstrong's team, one has to be careful with that one).

in my opinion, Armstrong is heavily doped, he is just lucky and hasn't been caught yet. but i do have to admit that my opinion is also influenced by the athletics doping scandal in the USA. these people have been taking drugs for years and years and only now the US officials react.

so at the moment:

Considering (East)Germany has a history of being a country that constantly doped up it's athletes for the Olimpics in the Cold-War era - I find it kind of funny that Germans are the ones that are outraged over Lance Armstrong.

Lance, dispite his relations with BALCO, has never tested positive for any drugs in his system. So until HE is found to have doped up, he will (and should) be considdered the best(or One of the best) athlete of the last decade.

Even if he is using, that's no reason to spit at him, or ttry to wreck him. The Tour has rules and does do drug tests, if he tests positive, I'm sure he will be dis-qualified.

If he is one day found out to be using drugs to get an advantage, then he should be stripped of all 5 of his Tour victories. . .
