Does anybody know how to create a 3D cube defined by vectors in Direct3DX I have created a spinning 2D triangle following the Wichlord tutorial. And so i have the basic framework together just tell me basically what data to enter as the vectors and what sort of function calls i need to use Steve Cheers

Read the SDK tutorials I am pretty sure there is a tutorial on how to do that...

wait there is...It is the .x object loader tutorial. Just load a box instead.

Or you could use OpenGL

Like the man sez, read the manuals.

I''ve emailed you a tutorial that defines cubes (and everything else you need to display them).

Being a newbie sux. I suggest you buy a number of Direct3D tutorials:

1. Teach Yourself DirectX 7 (SAMS)
2. Inside Direct3D (MICROSOFT)
and when your ready
3. Advanced 3-D Game Programming using Direct X7.0

Teach Yourself DirectX 7 in 24 hours isn''t bad (I have just started to read about D3D). It might be better to buy one of the other books because it tries to cram too much into too little time. Only 7 of the 24 chapters use D3D though. It also doesn''t cover alternate ways of doing things (z-buffers, bsp trees, portals).

As DeltaVee suggested, try
Advanced 3-D Game Programming using Direct X7.0
by Adrian Perez, (C)2000 Wordware Publishing

It covers all the 3D math you''ll need. It''s also not very hard to read. Though you should be capable of writing solid C++ code.

alternatively you could try
3D Graphics Programming by Sergei Savchenko
1999, SAMS
this one covers all the math background concering Matrices, Shading, Lightig, BSP... Despite the excelent information it''s quite hard to read.
