It'd be nice to see the post flagging system having a couple of extra additions. When viewing the moderated flags, it'd be useful to see who moderated it. Another useful extension to this would be to have the moderator fill in a text box to state the action they took when moderating the post. This would be useful for other moderators to see how people handle certain situations as well as the staff for auditing/statistics purposes.

I reckon the best long-term approach is to turn Flagged Posts into it's own forum.

When a post is flagged, a new thread is created in a special forum (with a link to the offending post either embedded in the text, or stored in the special data columns).

Discussion can then take place until the situation is resolved; when the situation is resolved, the moderator responsible indicates this by closing the thread. (I'm assuming that we're going to get a 'thread closed by' indicator at some point as well).

The 'flagged posts' icon code can then check for pending flags by just looking to see if there are any non-locked posts in the special forum.

That's a good idea. So it'd be a lot more like the Automated alerts forum? It would be a good reference system for spotting any recurring issues as it'd be sat there under one roof as it were [smile]

Indeed. It'd also be a much more useful way of handling cases where a 'second opinion' is required.
