Hi, Can anyone tell me how to compute the volume of an open triangle mesh. I know how the volume of a closed mesh can be computed by computing the volume of the piramids formed by some orbitary point with each triangle in the mesh... but I don't know abt the open triangle mesh. please help me... Thank you.

volume of open mesh is zero, obviously, if by open you mean mesh with holes in surface.

Volume of open one liter bottle is not one liter, one liter it's volume of closed bottle/volume of something you can put into that bottle if you tuen it upside up, and if you have gravitation.

I guess you mean convex/concave by closed/open meshes, since your method only works for convex meshes. For concave meshes, you need to subdivide them somehow to get smaller convex units. One possibility are BSP trees, you'll find information on them in the articles section of gamedev.net.

unnecessarity of splitting concave mesh into convex parts have been discussed there since creation. Use search if by "open" you mean concave. Or better yet, search for volume of mesh.
