Any reason why a call to IDirectDrawSurface7::Lock() would fail with the err DDERR_SURFACEBUSY when all I''ve done is create it? I am using DDLOCK_WAIT, for what its worth.

1.Maybe its in the flipchain?
2.some other thread is bliting to it?
3.its allready Locked and u did not UnLock() it ?

this are the first things that cross my mind

i use Lock() a lot (in asm of course )

Hrm.. its not part of a flipping chain, and I'm locking it right after its been created, and I haven't created any other threads... hm. Any other ideas?

And on a related note, it no longer gets the the point where it prints a debug message.. as soon as it hits the call to Lock() it immediatly exits the program with -1.

Hey A.Buza, did you solve your problem yet? If not, post some code so I can look at it.

Hmmm...

You say it just exits right at the Lock() call...?

Well then:
1.are u saveing the lpdirectdrawsurface pointer u get back from CreateSurface()...?

2.and more important do u feed Lock()with correct lpSurface pointer?

3.double indirected ok?

PS. can u Blt() the same surface?
