I'm wondering what the general feelings would be on a GDnet article about developing with python, and possibly a follow-up article about pygame. What is Python How to indent your program properly, and how to import other python files. Using Python Types Explains how to use tuples, list, and dictonaries. It will also explain how to convert from a string to an integer, and vica versa. Classes In Python Explains how to build a class, and goes over the main differences between Python and other OOP languges. I'd spend some time explaining about the self pointer, and what the error message is if you leave it out. Inheitence Just goes over python inherience rules, and pitfalls.

I've actually been trying to find something that will motivate me into checking up on Python. A article here would definitly be something I want.

You don't have to show howto, but saying what Python can be used in when it comes to games would be good.

On a serius level, how long have you used Python and have you completed any projects in Python?

Cheers

Actually, I've just finished a 2D game engine written totally in Python (using Pygame of course). I've made a some Atari clones with the above engine. I was planning to publish my engine at the end of the article series.

Sounds like a useful and interesting topic, I'd say go for it.

Well, doesn't this tutorial tell you everything? And of course Pygame's docs.

But perhaps it would be a good idea to do a newbie friendly Python/Pygame article as Python is usually suggested to new gamedevers here all the time :)

How about adding "Setting up python" and "Distributing your apps" or something?

The tutorial on the python site is pretty good (thats how I got started), but the PyGame tutorials are harder to follow, and tend to leave out details that don't relate to the particular project they are explaining.

BTW, I've started writing it, and it looks like the first article will focused on Python (with a little pygame at the end).

Awesome. I have to catch up on Python/OGL programming within the next month.
