Hi, guys. I'm going to be programming a pool (billiards) game. Now, I got most of the physics down (although I might need some help with that later). However, I [google]'d a lot and can't find most of the info on billiards. For example, I can find things like ball radius and mass, but I'm also missing some attributes, such as friction coefficients, ball and cushion elasticity, etc. Now, I realize that these are different for every surface, but if someone is better skilled with Google or maybe knows some of these by chance, I'd appreciate some sort of standard measurements for the above. Thanks in advance.

i can't remember where but i did see an article taking about pool physics..You might what to look at the article "phyisics on the back of cocktail napkin" by Jeff Lander. You will need a gamaultra login if you look under physics in the articles section...

Thanks. I'll check it out.

There seems to be a problem. I can't create a new Gamasutra account because apparently one with the same e-mail exists, yet none of the possible passwords work.

Yep, thanks. I guess they assign you a temporary pass when you register, so I'm going to have to reset it.

There's another good article at gamasutra that targets billiard physics specifically:

Pool Hall Lessons...

Note that this discusses collision response also.

Thanks, guys. I found both of those great articles. However, like I said, I'm in better need of billiards stats, not the physics. Specifically, I need to know things like standard coefficients of friction and elasticity.
