I understand that what transient means is that the variable or whatever won't be serializable, but I've seen them used like function pointers. Is this true or is it a roundabout way of creating objects on the fly and then passing them as if they were functors or something. Does this make sense? L-

There are no function pointers in java (except if you mean java.lang.reflect.Method).
Why do my programs never work on other computers?
