Expert programmer?

When do you don't have to wonder if you are elite.

i guess when you write all your games in assembly (for the respective processor) 3D Now!, SSE and SSE2 instructions, and GLSL and HLSL (those are assembly like right?)

If I remember correctly, I learned in college (a psychology course?) that ten years of experience is equivalent to expert knowledge in/on a subject...

Anyways joeyg2477, when you can write your own OS that is far superior than Windows, as well as make your own programming language that is widely used, as well as make your own 3D game engine everyone will be willing to pay near 500k+ for its use, as well as make up some new concept that the programming world has yet to see - then I can say you have reached the elite level of Expert programmer. Heck if you can do all that, the dictonary will put your picture by the term 'elite programmer' [wink].

Or when you are mentioned on the bbc website as a

"Expert in the field of programming...yadda yadda yadda....."

I hope i am never an expert. I'll be fine with just being great.
