I need to convert sequences of images into movie. Images is photo-like, so gif animation is unsuitable. Do you know any tool for that? Preferably free, for Linux or Windows... I have seen many simple tools that just use Windows codecs/drivers to do compression, but such tools compress very poorly and is very inflexible, so i can't use such tools.

mplayer, the free (GPL) Linux/Unix/Windows media player, comes with video/audio encoding capabilities in form of a program named "mencoder". Haven't used mencoder much but it does seem to do its job rather nicely.

IIRC there was some program a friends of mine used to create CounterStrike videos from his replays (capturing every frame), but i can't find it anymore.

VideoMach is simple but works well for things such as joining bitmaps.

i tried VirtualDub , seems to work, but i have problems installing XviD codecs, but probably will solve it.
