I had recently bought a Sony Vaio S260 laptop, and I loved it. One night I went to go touch the USB port mouse to turn off the screen saver, then that's when I felt a static shock. The shock must have traveled through the mouse and messed up something, because it wouldn't turn on after that. Luckily I had a waranty that would replace my laptop, so I got the same thing, but with more memory and a faster chipset. Within a week, I shocked this one as well and the same thing happened. What surprised me was that I touched the lock attached to the side of it and the shock wasn't nearly as powerful as the first. I tried pressing the reset button according to the instructions, but nothing helps. It doesn't do anything when I touch the power button. Is this a design flaw in the computer (shouldn't there be a ground to protect against this?), or is static really that harmful? I plan on replacing this computer with something else from Best Buy, any opinions?
