I loved this game to death while most people I know hated it. Oh well, too bad for them. My question deals with the control scheme. Brilliantly, when you hit an obstacle, your character presses up against it to take cover for the inevitable gunfight. I'm curious if games like this typically just have general code that handles any case where he could run into walls, short walls, cars, stuff like that, or if you think they went the way of Half-Life and had special markings at places where the AI should hide and stuff like that. I guess the same question could apply to the Metal Gear Solid series, although those seem to pride themselves on improvisation, despite some pretty strict controls.
