I have developed a program using an older version of the DirectX SDK (Version 9). I then installed the Feb 2005 Update, and although the program will work on my computer, it now won't work on other computers. The other computers have the most recent version of the runtime environment, but it comes up saying that it is missing a certain dll. I have noticed that in the old version of my application, (which works), the d3d***.h header files included as external dependencies are in my Visual studio's include folder. But in the recent version of the application (which doesn't work) these same files are in the foler 'microsoft directx 9.0 sdk (february 2005)'. I my program, the only inludes I declare are: d3d9.h d3dx9.h How do you select where it looks for the .h files? And what does it man by the error: 'd3dx9_24.dll was not found'

In previous versions of the SDK, d3dx was statically linked. But now it's a DLL. You're not allowed to distribute the DLL, so you'll have to get your friends to install the Feb2005 Redist (can't recall if it's in the SDK download or a separate dload).

They havce this installed:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx?url=/windows/directx/downloads/default.htm

(version 9.0c) That isn't enough? You mean they have to have the SDK on too, because I can't see any other download? Why would you have to have the SDK to view the DirectX?

Thanks.

I installed Direct SDK V9.0 Feb 2005 update
When trying it on another computer, I downloaded the DirectX V9.0c redistribution environment and installed that.
That didn't work, I needed DirectX V9.0c Feb 2005 redistribution environment.

Umm, that doesn't make any sense. Of course you are allowed to distribute the DLL. The redistributable part of the SDK is the part of DirectX that is redistributed with your application.
