I was wondering if anyone could give me a backround on SQL server programming? Like coding conventions used with it or code examples and what they mean? I really just need to know mostly what it is though.

What part of it in particular are you interested in, and what tools do you intend to use? (common examples would be using the SQL Server GUI tools [i.e. Enterprise manager] with a direct connection, using Microsoft Access as a front end with a direct connection, or doing it remotely via command line or web based tools).

If you have just been given "SQL Server programming" it could be many things, from server side maintence and performance tuning, to client side programming (i.e. writing database driven web pages or a C++ application that connections to an SQL Server database), to the actual SQL used in both, which covers basic queries and commands, stored procedures and views (in SQL Server views are actually 2 way, giving them many uses outside of just queries), and table construction with indexes, contraints and triggers, among other things.
