This is not a programming question, although it is a general question. When you send an email, the date that it is marked as being sent, is that the time and date of your computer or the time and date of the mail server?

It would be logical to have it be the time on the server, otherwise you could change your date and thereby change the time of an email.
It is stamped again when received by the receiving server, and sometimes the difference can be hours [oh].

And each server that receives the email will stamp it again. SMTP about half way down it talks about time stamps.

No, my dad received some emails that did one of those disappearing acts, and he found 2 days worth up in the inbox email list. He said to the guy that sent them to check his computer date and time, and I started wondering whether that would actually change the date at which the mails were marked as being sent.
