Sometimes when things don't work quite the way you want them to, they still end up looking kind of cool. On the image below, I was trying to generate a sun with realistic plasma. Instead it ended up looking like a balloon that's been popped. Anyone else's bugs do things like this?

My bugs make the computer look as if it can't play Tic Tac Toe...

So the answer is no, none of my bugs look or are cool. [smile]

Did you divide by zero?

Font rendering gone wrong:

Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

I think Mathematica is a prime example of what can happen when equations cross over to the dark side. Mathematica takes perfectly good equations and garbles them up with asinine syntax, in my opinion. Glad I never have to use it again.

Can you give an example? I'm curious as to which part of it you think is so horrendous.

I can't remember what this does because it was taken from homework 2 years ago. To me the syntax just seems horrible. If I remember, the _ had various effects on the variables in the equation, but I can't recall what. Maybe part of the reason I don't like it is because we had to use the Sun version of the program.

Clear[f, x, y, a, b, Sol, Slope, ySol]f[x_, y_]  =  x*Cos[x*y]  -  y  +  Cos[y];a = 1.2;b = 3.4;Sol  =      NDSolve[        {y'[x] == f[x, y[x]],         y[a] == b        },        y[x],        {x, -2, 4}]ySol[x_] = y[x] /. Sol[[1]];Sol = Plot[ySol[x], {x, -2, 4}]Slope = PlotVectorField[    {1, f[x, y]},    {x, -2, 4},    {y, 0, 80},    Frame -> True,    AspectRatio -> 2.5,    PlotPoints -> 30,    ColorFunction -> Hue];Show[    Slope,    Sol];

That syntax does not even remotely resemble a donkey.

I can't express mine as a picture

I think one of the worst ones I've done recently was playing with cubic patches and vertex shaders in Direct3D. I had a nice cubic patch animating on-screen, and changed something such that (I guess) I introduced a numerical instability.

So, from the camera angle I used, it animated a bit and then suddenly rushed straight in the direction of the camera in a big bulging mess. Scared the crap outta me [oh]
