'Undo' feature in Explorer...

This is not an anti-Windows rant or anything, I just really hate this 'undo' thing in Explorer, and want to know if there's a way to disable it. Ok, so the feature isn't as annoying if you turn off your computer every night. But for my case, I've been logged in since 9/9/05. (Yes, that means my windows box has been up for over 3 months) I just accidentally pressed ctrl-Z while I was doing something. It undid something, probably from a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea what it did, and how I would redo it. There was probably a good reason why I did whatever it was that I did back then, and now Explorer has nicely gone back and undone it for me... You're probably laughing at me right now, but I would really like my files to go back to the state they were before the undo. Right now, Explorer has "Undo Rename" in the menu, and I can't remember the last time I renamed something. Though, I'm quite sure there was a reason behind that rename.

I think you missed an update that requires you to reboot. [wink]

Try pressing ctrl+y ? it normally does redo, don't know if it works in IE tho.

Nope, tried on XP, not seeing any redo here.

Very odd,... why have undo without having redo?

Remove the letter Z from your keyboard. I mean, there are hardly any important words that have Z in it anyway.

Ok, I found out what it undid.
Over a week ago I contributed something to the picture war thread, a wolf. I deleted that wolf pic after uploading it to my gamedev webspace, and now it's back in my downloads folder, so the accidental undo was to undelete that file.
The rename that's in the menu right now is most likely when I changed the name of that image to hungry_wolf instead.
All fixed now. I hate you, mr. Explorer.

I have to agree - I turn off every night and that "feature" still annoys me.

I don't think FireFox would make a very good substitute for Explorer.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

people, think sometimes before post

explorer in this case is not meant as internet explorer, but as windows shell.
firefox has nothing to do with it

Been browsing through some of the registry hacks sites a little bit. Still can't find a way to just take out the undo feature.
I suppose it's really built in.

P.S. I explicitly said 'Explorer', not IE.

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about at this point. Either way, I suspect that "use FireFox" was sarcasm.

In Opera it reopens the last tab you closed. [grin]

Probably once a hacker gets into your computer you can press undo to kick him out and unsteal your identity.
