i've been reading and learned a loth,
and i've more ore less the same problem
is there anyone who can give the name of
a certain program or give some instructions how to
adjust an ip adres scanner to for excemple scan mac adres and ban
them, wel mac may not be the perfect way
but if you can combine them, and the avarage
pc users doens't know how to change mac so
the combination is not so bad i think.

does anyone know a program or how to
adjust one to... so i can scan and if
necesaire ban on both??

By talking about privacy here, i wonder what typicall web-applications (html, java, flash, shockwave player, active-x) are able to find out about a machine.
Typicall and obvious things which come to my mind:

- IP-Adress (ofcourse)
- MAC-Adress ?
- ... ?

besides they could hide information in coockies and maybe also on the harddisk are there any ways for such web-applications to gather information about the hardware of the user ?

That's not entirely true now. A lot of intergrated boards have the ability to actually assign the mac in the system bios. And it is technically not a guarentee that you wont have a collision of addresses between 2 cards that you can't change them either, its just a statistical improbability that you wont have 2 with the same address on the same network.
