I know sweet snippets are supposed to be short and to the point, but it seems somewhat silly to write an article for two functions, one three lines long and the other four lines long and almost half of those lines being variable declarations. I just don't see any value for gamedev to be publishing this, even if it went straight into the reference section. Despite the author's claims it really doesn't add much over the MSDN entries for System.IO.StreamWriter and System.IO.StreamReader.

Was there a real name attached to this submission? I can't seem to find one in the article or source archive.

Dear Aaron Lott,

We greatly appreciate your submission of "Visual Basic I/O Routines" for publication consideration. Unfortunately we are not able to accept this submission for publication.

The primary issue is that the article simply does not contain that much information. While it is useful to know that you can use System.IO.StreamWriter and System.IO.StreamReader to perform text input and output, the article does not actually add much over the MSDN entries for the classes. Additionally, in game development most file I/O needs are not met with just the StreamWriter and StreamReader classes.

Should it be possible to resolve any of these outstanding considerations, we would be happy to review your content again. For a more detailed explanation of the aforementioned reasons, or to answer any of your questions in general, please contact the Editor-in-Chief at editor@gamedev.net.

Thank you for your submission, and we hope that you will again choose GameDev.Net for future content you wish to share with the game development community.

As you might know, GameDev.Net receives a large number of article submissions and I do apologize for any delay in getting back to you.
