Hello, I'm trying to draw a transparent line with the Python Imaging Library using ImageDraw.line() but the color parameter only accepts a RGB value rather than an ARGB value inexplicably, and I can't find out how to set the transparency anywhere in the documentation. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it possible? Argh. I'm going to be very unhappy if a self-described "powerful image processing and graphics capabilities" library doesn't even handle writing transparent pixels. [sad]

Draw the line to a "blank" canvas, then blit with transparency onto your destination. It's an image processing library, not a pixel rendering library.

Image.paste() + mask worked great. Thanks! [smile]
