this has been eating me up for years when cancelling down and rearranging y=5-2x will it become y= -2x+5 or y= 2x-5 ??if i dont make sense tell me lol.

If it's been eating you up for years, then you really should have gotten help sooner [smile]

It would be the first one (y = -2x + 5). The negative signs stick with the number, and if you don't see a negative sign, then that means there's an implied plus sign.

(+5) + (-2x) = (-2x) + (+5)
