I was just wondering who prefers what of these forum options. Personally even though I have a host I still prefer Invisionfree because I dont have to worry about messing it up or it going down when my server does. You can customize just about everything there, and its easy. All this in exchange for some google ads. What are the advantages of PhpBB you dont get with InvisionFree, besides no ads? How many use either?

Never get phpBB, unless you intend on keeping up with the updates. phpBB is great software, but because it's so popular, it tends to get pwned a lot.

If you want to hack or get experience running the backend of a forum, phpBB or punBB is your best choice. If you just want board software, I suggest going with Invasion free, because it gives you the most value for your time.
